What is the best way to get kids to like their food? You cook with them! My kids love making their own macaroni. It's super easy with the KitchenAid Tube Pasta Maker and they're proud to have made something so delicious with them.

1. For the pasta dough, mix flour and durum wheat semolina in a bowl. Add the water and process into a dough using a food processor. Cover this and let it rest for 30 minutes.

2. I use a KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer to make the macaroni. Assemble the tubular pasta attachment and insert the insert for macaroni and then prepare them. Let the macaroni dry on a clean kitchen towel dusted with durum wheat semolina while you prepare the cheese sauce.

3. For the cheese sauce, break up the toast into small crumbs and place in a medium bowl. Then grate both cheeses into small pieces. Then mix 100g of the grated cheese with the breadcrumbs in the bowl and set aside.

4. In a large saucepan, melt the butter, then whisk in the flour and continue beating for 2 minutes to cook the flour. Then stir in the hot milk and season with nutmeg, salt and pepper. Bring this sauce to a boil and continue to cook, stirring constantly, for 2 minutes until thickened. Now reduce the heat and stir in the grated cheese. Take the pot off the stovetop.

5. Grease a   casserole dish   of about 30 x 40 cm with butter, preheat the oven to 190°. In a large saucepan, bring water to a boil with 1 tablespoon of salt. Cook the macaroni for 4 minutes until they are al dente .

6. Mix the macaroni with the cheese sauce and spread the mixture evenly in the casserole dish. Spread the mixture of breadcrumbs and cheese from the bowl on the casserole and sprinkle with the knobs of butter.

7. Bake the casserole for 20 minutes until it has a golden brown crust on top.
